  • I'm more worried about the future of the workers in the agriculture industry. What happens when farmers can't use all those expensive machines they need???

  • Cortez is astoundingly ignorant. She thinks FDR was forced out by constitutional amendment to for term limits and that democrats alone passed the civil rights act.
FDR died in office from a cerebral hemorrhage. The civil rights act was not passed until 1964 and many democrats opposed it.
Her lack of basic knowledge is an indictment of the leftist takeover of our educational system. Facts are facts.

Also, the fake info on electric vehicles is rampant. The "carbon footprint" of an electric auto is astounding, even before it hits the road. The pollution of mining the toxic lithium needed for batteries poisons groundwater, then when the vehicle is thrown away, what happens to the lithium batteries?
Lithium ion batteries, when they burn, cause brain cancer, liver cancer and other, potentially lethal, toxic poisoning. Certain regulators are told to "ignore these issues" because certain lithium ion investors donated cash to certain campaigns.

I am delighted to see conversations like this starting to happen on mainstream media like this. Many in independent media like the Young Turks have been screaming from the mountaintops about the issue of climate change and how it is linked directly to income inequality. It is refreshing to hear conversations about the Green New Deal happening in this context and I give Chris Hayes and all those involved in making this town hall happen a ton of credit. Keep it rolling mainstream media it is about time you start talking about issues in terms of inequality!

  • russia russia russia, collusion collusion collusion. omg putin is going to turn off the electricity and the natural gas. rachel what will we do. we're all going to freeze. i'm sooooo scareeed. i'm soooo scareeeed. help me rachel. save me rachel. russia russia russia, collusion collusion collusion. hahahaha, you stupid lefty shytes. hahahaha.

  • To those who believe that we have any effect on the changes that our climate is going thru.
Let me inform you that it is not in our hands or in our power to change these things, but it is in the hands of the Lord.
He is the One who has set the cycles of the sun and the earth and the time in which they act.
Do we have the power to influence the sun?
Can we stop the poles from shifting or movement of the earth’s equator ?
These are the signs that the time is near for His coming.
A time to set our lives right with the Lord.
Can’t you see that the Lord is showing us how frail our life is? That our goals should be knowing Him, having a relationship with Him.
The Lord is shutting down His creation. Can we stop it?
There is a new beginning coming, the return of the Son Of God. Will you be ready???

  • 60 percent by 2030. By AOC standards we are already dead. Please explain solar power for the major cities? Oh so the NGD wants strangers raising our children and doing it for free.
AOC just said the jobs will be Union jobs.
So families will have to separate to go to new companies and learn new jobs. Very communistic of you.

Okay put the numbers together. How about AOC get re-elected.

I thought this was going to be bi-partisan but I forgot it is MSNBCLBTQRST

AOC you should have created the NGD with fellow young Republicans. Instead you are just throwing rocks in your glass castle. Sooner or later you are going to break that last pane of glass and the whole castle will come tumbling down. You seem to have a lot of spirit but not knowledgeable of the government or your own job.
AOC, FDR died I think 3 years before the ratification took place. Again trying to look smart is not enough. You do actually have to know about which you speak.
One more thing AOC you seem like Yankees fan. Sorry the Red Sox are going to repeat this year.

  • PrimeTime Fitness says:

She’s a moron. I love it when she opens here big mouth. All she is doing is hurting the Democratic Party. Trump will win again. Get used to it . Trump 2020 , ha ha

  • This is fake news and biased “reporting.” This is not a town hall, but simply a promotional talk in order to advance AOC and MSNBS’s ideology and worldview. There is nothing wrong with a one sided interview and giving her an audience, but don’t call this unbiased.

  • Thank you Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for speaking out against the terrorist state Israel! No more welfare checks for Israel!

  • Even the most crazy radical climate nuts say that 12 years is a joke. How stupid do you have to be to believe this women! In my 59 years of life I have seen no evidence of climate change in daily life. Same climate. Less Hurricanes, Same old ups and downs. None. Use your brains people. And 12 years from now I will say the same thing. The last two years the Greenland Ice pack has increased greatly. This is a hoax.

  • A room filled with leftist idiots all scripted applause signs up like a high school play– unfortunately cortez has aout a 3rd grade mentality as most democrats– the way she hyphenates her words and her fake dumb laugh pauses the perfect puppet– NO COLLUSION !!!!!!!!!!

  • Jennifer Clem says:

Democrats are gone completely crazy and I do not believe a damm thing say about climate change!! These elites will never!! Stop flying in plane!!! They will never stop being chaffererd around in big suv’s And they will never stop living in massive homes!!!! But they will stand on tv and be dictators to the majority of Americans and tell us we should live how they will not!!! Aoc and al democrats that agree with that ridiculous green new deal can start walking and riding bycycles and have fun with that like al gore who preaches to America while flying in private jets living in huge homes and owning 6 suvs !!!! The left are complete hypocrites!!!

  • Jennifer Clem says:

If aoc and the radical left wanna save the planet… have at it but don’t you dare tell me that I cannot drive a 1975 muscle car and own an ar15 to protect my family!!i never thought I’d see the day when jimmy carter and bill clinton seemed somewhat normal liberals

  • Jennifer Clem says:

Hey aoc debate Ben Shapiro!! Instead of being interviewed by the arm of the Democratic Party because all you do is softball interviews!!

  • LOL, This is why the DNC wants to lower the voting age to 16. You notice how she never cites, web sites, or real scientists, just talking points like the mythical 98% of all scientists. The Msm will peddle whatever gives the Government more power and control of its citizens. Why is this hired actor so famous you ask? Because she has lots of social media followers, and is pretty …ish, and can brainwash ill informed young voters that actual socialism is a good idea, even though its failed EVERYWHERE ITS EVER BEEN TRIED!

  • Rex Halbeisen says:

Will someone please help us understand how all the electricity for the electric cars gets generated? What is the electricity storage system? Never seen an electric tractor. Please help explain how race equals climate change? Unicorn fantasies

  • She's right. People on the right see environmentalism as attacking the best jobs that still remain after deindustrialization. They don't see the value in jobs in green infrastructure because those look like jobs for other people in other places. This looks kind of like ineffective marketing and overpoliticizing the issue since forever.
But there might be more to it than that too. It's hard to tax carbon to create an incentive for transitioning to clean energy, but it's easy to create a jobs program to spend money employing people. The problem is that the combination of jobs and taxes can work for consumers, but it would hurt a lot of businesses. How could the cost of productive business be reduced while the costs of labor and energy are increased?
I would suggest changing the tax structure so that productive business is taxed at a significantly lower rate than other business like finance, retail, transportation, distribution and marketing. Our politicians who promote consumerism within a tax structure that treats profits from finance equal to profits from the production consumers need makes our economy overfinancialized, weak and overly dependent on foreign producers.

  • You can believe that global warming is real BUT that the green new deal is a bad approach to the problem. Instead I offer a green new republic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kR2wtNjXClQ&t=84s

  • OK, here are the *facts*:

    a) Climate change is real.
    b) Climate change is an existential threat to all of humanity.

Nearly a billion people will be adversely affected by rising sea level. For everyone else, elongation of warmer seasons, as well as incremental increases in temperatures throughout the year will have wide-ranging consequences for everything from the frequency and severity of events such as hurricanes, typhoon, cyclones, tornadoes, flooding, wildfires, etc., to agriculture, to insect infestations, flora and fauna migration into historically colder climes, desertification, fresh water availability…the list goes on and on.

    c) We must act now!
We've known about climate change for decades and have, so far, failed to act. Prevailing scientific wisdom suggests that we have a dozen years to reverse course, or suffer dire outcomes.

    d) The top sectors for greenhouse gas emissions are:
    1. Electricity and heat production (25%). Basically, the burning of sequestered carbon in the form of fossil fuels.
    2. Agriculture and Deforestation (24%).
    3. Industry (21%). Again, largely the burning of fossil fuels for energy.
    4. Transportation (14%). Yup, you guessed it. Burning fossil fuels.

    e) There is no "silver bullet". Only "silver buckshot". We need to urgently bring several solutions online affecting the top sources of global greenhouse gas emissions. This is this generations "moonshot".

    What are these solutions?

    1. Green energy from renewable sources.
More energy falls on the earth in a single hour in the form of sunlight than the entire population of the planet consumes in a year! So, solar.

Hydropower from rivers and tidal, wind and geothermal round out solutions that are relatively quick fixes

Governmental initiatives on the scale of sending the first men to the moon in the 60's is required here, as are targeted incentives to install renewable energy production capacity.

    2. Grid-scale energy storage solutions are needed to buffer the intermittency of solar and wind.
See above regarding governmental involvement and economic incentives. Additionally, advancing battery technology results in worldwide leadership in this important area.

    3. Green nuclear.
Yes, nuclear. Just not your grandfather's nuke plant. Molten Salt Reactor designs are inherently safe. They burn fuel derived from the second most crustationally abundant element on the planet, Thorium, and, in doing so, they pose no proliferation risk and produce far less waste that's also far less dangerous long-term than their pressurized water or boiling water cousins.

See above regarding governmental involvement, economic incentives, research and development, and legislative/regulatory reform to enable MSR to come online as quickly as possible.

    4. Air-to-Fuels.
Converting just the world's fleet of internal combustion powered cars is a $50 trillion problem. How about this one? The technology exists today to turn every CO2-emitting automobile into a carbon-neutral transport conveyance overnight!

Carbon Engineering in Canada has proven Direct Air Capture technology that scrubs carbon from the atmosphere and converts it to liquid fuels that are chemically identical to fossil fuel-derived fuels such as gasoline, diesel and kerosene.

This one's simply a no-brainer. Government and industry acting on concert to integrate liquid fuels derived from Air-to-Fuels processes on a massive, global scale. This is an immediate solution to a significant portion of global greenhouse gas production. Moreover, it stabilizes the world's energy system, breaking the stranglehold certain countries have on fossil fuels, ending the reason for so many conflicts globally, enabling every country to become energy independent.

    5. Vegetarian/Vegan diet.
Not only is it healthier for us, but consuming less meat decreases global greenhouse gas emissions across the board; from fertilizer production, to transportation, to methane production, to deforestation, to crops grown to feed livestock, rather than feed the world's population.

To close, we ignore climate change at our peril. Alternatively, we can embrace it for the opportunities that it represents to establish global leadership in technologies the entire world needs now, as well as in the future; creating jobs and boosting our economy as a result.

  • AOC's brain: All vehicles should be powered by hopes and dreams. If you don't like it you're a racist, sexist and flat Earther.
This lady is too laughable for words

  • All Europeans countries signed Kyoto protocol 22 years ago. They heavily tax businesses and gasoline to reduce CO2. Everyone bought small diesels car and businesses are living. Now they find out diesel exhaust cause cancer and they add a tax on it. Google "Yellow Vests Movement" and learn what is happening now!

  • BrokeredHeart says:

I would like to point something out that AOC touched on around 03:58 – the argument that oil and gas industry jobs come with higher pay, better conditions, and "more dignity" than the renewable energy sector. That's not the reality for many working those jobs. Yes, they get compensated well for the work they do in chemical engineering, prospecting, drilling, fracking, working the on rigs and with excavation machinery, but these jobs are not necessarily "better" than working for a solar panel installation company, or at wind farm, or even in a nuclear power plant.
These jobs in the fossil fuel industry are dangerous, tedious, and overly demanding with very little support for workers who retire from their position, or who are injured on the job, or who develop some kind of chronic medical condition from exposure to these materials. In the Bakken oil fields of North Dakota, there was a death at least every six weeks from employees who were overworked and had little to no safety equipment. Inspections are far too infrequent, meaning sites can quickly fall behind on safety measures and environmental regulation. Shifts can last for days without time off, with some reporting they'd worked over 65 hours straight without breaks. Medical benefits aren't covered, so Kentucky coal mine drivers and transporters were forced to pay out of pocket for expensive treatment when coal dust gave them respiratory cancers. The margin for error is slim, and with overworked, tired employees, accidents happen frequently. As a result, leaks, spills and air sprays happen regularly, with a reported 20 million gallons of spilled oil contaminating the soil, water and air in America since 2006.
This is why renewable energy in solar, wind, hydroelectric and geothermal can be such a boon for new employers, because the jobs are safer, they pay just as well, and they depend on fewer subsidies from the government than the oil and gas industry. Renewables are profitable, and despite what companies like Shell and Exxon display to the public, they are losing a tonne of money in shale fracking. For the last 10 years, the top 32 fracking companies have been setting record-breaking numbers on extraction, yet with all their gas production, they're still spending more money than they are making, hemorrhaging over a billion dollars. And yet they continue to assert that the next quarter is when they'll "break even." This is an unsustainable business practice, and it's one that the American public is paying for, in more ways than one.
So we should be weighing our options with the Green New Deal in mind. The slack-jawed idiots over at FOX want to make this resolution sound like a list of things we have to give up, things we have to go without in order to reach some unattainable goal with ever-moving goal posts as we descend deeper into some Marxist fever dream. I would argue that it is something to aspire to, as a way to improve what we already have, and modernize our industries and workforce in preparation for what lies ahead. If I had a job that was pushing me to work 60 hour shifts doing grueling labor in unsafe conditions, I'd be looking ahead to a new vocation that paid me just as well, where my life and my health weren't being put at risk.

  • An electric SUV would be a historic failure, because it doesn't exist. This is a group of individuals who have absolutely no practical knowledge of how the physical world works. These individuals are so ignorant, it seems like a joke. However, they aren't joking. Time to let the tree of freedom bleed.

  • Colorado Old Man says:

I can’t believe this audience can be that stupid. They HAD to be hired shills with lame softball questions like that. Congress had to amend the constitution why, again? Total fools. Really? Not ONE senator voted for her incredibly dumb green new deal, and she can’t marshall an ounce of humility and acknowledge her ignorance. I’m really tired of listening to this hag. Bronx, you got what you voted for. Sorry you were duped, but there are remedies…

  • Julio Cesar Quiles says:

  • killersushi99 says:

Is she claiming that the 22nd amendment to the constitution was passed to prevent FDR from winning another election? The completed ratification happened in 1951 when the last state (Alabama) ratified but FDR died in 1944. She does not know what she's talking about.

  • Brianna Hernandez says:

i would actually be so for AOC if she wasn't pro-abortion. what a shame. i really wanted to support a fellow latina. </3

  • Do you think AOC understand that oil IS NOT a fossil fuel. It is abiotic. It is the second most abundant fluid on our planet next to water. Do your research, Ladies, and you will understand this. Oil fields don't "fill back up" if they were depleting fossil fuels. They fill back up and become viable again, because oil is abiotic. When the progressive left wants to have a real conversation about science, please let us know. Until then you people can STFU!!!

  • We could spend billions or trillions of dollars… Another option is that Loco-Cortex and Ro Khanna could just slit their wrists and reduce their carbon footprints without delay! I am sure which option I prefer. I know that having these two idiots out of public office would save millions (if not billions) of lives and ensure that we don't destroy the world as we know it. We should also offer Chris Hayes a sharp knife so that he can join these two useful idiots in the after life! Optionally, I would offer them a suicide vest (Allah akbar, It's a fashion statement) to use at the next Democratic convention or Hillary Clinton fundraiser!

  • This stupid narrative, Black unemployment is proportionally less in 2019 when compared to 2009 (by about 50%), more importantly is that for decades, black unemployment has often been 100% greater than white unemployment. Democrat president, Republican president, White president, Black President… It doesn't matter. I have no idea why White unemployment is lower than Black unemployment, but I am sure that our political leaders are on top of it…. The most likely hypothesis is that overall unemployment will continue to be low until white people give up their second jobs to keep overall unemployment low… LULz. I learned that from Alexandria Loco-Cortex. Unfortunately, I am not sure how that ever impacted black unemployment which is also at a historical low. It must be that I don't understand economics with the same nuance that Loco-Cortex understands it with her Economics and International Relations expertise. HAHAHHAHAHHAHA!

  • As a hard core lefty, it took me a long time to understand what the other side was always screaming about in terms of “the liberal biased main stream media.” I never saw it this way. I always just thought that it was just news and thier screaming was simply because they did not like truth presented in the form of reality. But now that I’ve started to look at it more critically I see it ALL THE TIME! Look at the whole interview at the 11 minute mark carefully carefully. Look what Chris Hayes says. An outright lie, and so outright that it is self contredictory, and everyone just nods in approval and claps like sheep. He says, “you were criticized for your GND FAQ because it contained things that people thought were ridiculous like Anyone that is unable or unwilling to work is gauranteed a job…” Now… think about that last sentence. First it is an outright lie. The GND FAQ stated “financial security for anyone unable or UNWILLING to work.” That is not the same as gauranteeing a job. But, look how ridiculous this statement is. If someone is UNABLE OR UNWILLING to work… HOW can they possibly be gauranteed a job? They are unable and/or unwilling to work… Think about that one for a minute. People who are unable or unwilling to work will be gauranteed jobs? I get what he is trying to do, soften the quote. Give her a pass.
