You know shit's about to get diplomatic when one of the two sides brings Slaughter to the table.
Interesting that you need two people to translate, but seeing as it is an arduous task it would be hard to keep talking and taking notes constantly
Imagine being a kid and having to translate for your parents.
no one is talking about how this guys middle name is slaughter
This was so cool.
Oh hey, Koss PortaPros. 8:29
That's amazing content. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
The spanish country is chile
Interpretation is different than translation, also. Someone can be great at translating and not so great at interpreting. I translate as a freelancer, but I get nervous about interpreting for my family members.
Are y’all just gonna ignore that his middle name is SLAUGHTER?!
Why is nobody talking about how the male interpreter's middle name is "Slaughter"?
how do interpreters handle grammar or other mistakes by speakers? do they attempt to replicate them, or do they explain that a mistake was made?
After the Unstralatable Joke They forgot to Say: Laugh in Spanish Please
3:12 just that note fold blew my mind
6:29 Me trying to socialize in a nutshell😢
This is why "A.I." software would never replace a real people thinking.
Imagine how easy it was to translate Obama
omg spanish speaker is baby
I used to have to interpret live church meetings and it was super tough. Oof
This was fascinating
That black woman is hot. Beautiful
Barry Slaughter Olsen sounds like a murder case.
Barry slaughter olsen can be a very dark name
CAN SOMEONE TEACH ME HOW TO TAKE NOTES LIKE THAT? MY PROFESSOR IS A MACHINE GUN AND I NEED TO LEARN TO TAKES NOTES LIKE THAT……

Interpreting is not an easy ask , I like the joke part that was hilarious 😂
OMG this is hard…
This video has taught me a great deal about interpreting, please laugh now.
This video should be properly labeled as: Interpretation, not translation. Smh
7:35 when grandayy makes another minecraft meme
So you have the power to order people to laugh. Okay. I'm reconsidering my life now.
I think this is the toughest job on earth and takes people with very special skills to do it
The symbols and stuff with the note taking is pretty cool wow
Kadafi spoke gibberish in whatever language he spoke id hate to interpret to a fool like him even tho I’m trilingual
One senior cn official wearing black border glasses just bypass the interpreter and start speaking English directly, sometimes uncomprehensible though.
I love the last part about jokes.
anyone noticed that the male translator looked like an spanish Bruce Willis
I will show this to everyone that tells me I should be able to do this just because I'm a translator. Not all translators are interpreters. And, honestly, thank god. It's an amazing job, but it's too stressful. I truly admire interpreters.
Those notes gave me anxiety
well, guess who doesn't wanna be a translator anymore.
Dang those chairs are really pretty
I'm now living in a Chinese-speaking country and as my Chinese is not very good, I'm used to pretending I understand other people and laugh when they laugh, even if I have no idea what's so funny. So if an interpreter tells me the joke is untranslatable and I have to laugh, I'm already well trained for that.
Why are there 2 interpreters if one cant interpret for both??
Props to these people. This looks so complicated
As someone that is studying translation and interpretation, this is awesome!!!
This is great, Barry! Glad I got to meet you while working at MIIS. I knew it was intense, but didn't realize HOW intense.
This feels like a dumb questing to be asking, but why have two interpreters if both speak both languages?
I feel like this all the time at my job as an IT technician when it comes to talking to the clients in technology jargons. Sometimes I have to find a way to communicate so the clients can understand what's happening to their documents, servers etc.
Why do you need two interpreters
This was a class for a semester at college, so I do remember the techniques, just not good at it 🤷♀️
Very Interesting, "The speaker has shared a joke. It is untranslatable, please laugh now.". Good One. Cheers !. Tough Job than it seems, with notes, momeory …etc
i feel like translating in the world of politics and business is kinda dangerous. dunno if this is the kdramas or just the paranoia.
i want like 6 hours of 500 different translators just doing their note taking
Why did I enjoy watching this
And "peoples" said the expert…
I'm mildly salty that this man has the greatest name in human history and I've only just heard it.
I love this video so much. I find the job so fascinating :))
Really love these insides, thank you for making these vids!
Dude being a bilingual speaker trying to translate half the stuff english speakers say in another language Is a pain. But it's funny when people who dont speak the language think you're not saying everything they are saying cuz it was either too short or too long.
In 2 years this will be 99% obsolete do yo AI.
Thank you so much for making this videos!!
Someone gave their child the fuckin middle name Slaughter
Couldn’t you just have one interpreter?
Please laugh now
Libyan interpreter/translator here: I remember when Gaddafi's "interpreter" collapsed during that UN assembly. When this video mentioned this incident, I exposed with laughter lol. Did not think I would see this here 😀
But why do you need two interpreters?
I speak 4 languages I can tell translation is a very toughjob I respect you guys
Perfectly edited videoAmazing job❤
I've done consecutive conference interpretation in the past, however it was never on the higher diplomatic level, usually international agencies or organizations – the better organized ones give you the agenda, a brief on each speaker's topic, specific lexical definitions (certain agencies favour particular translations of certain terms often used in their field and prefer that you use them when interpreting) and sometimes even the entire opening/closing remarks if they've been written out beforehand. The majority of speakers are very good about pausing at regular intervals so that you can interpret… I've also done simultaneous interpretation in a booth, and it is physically draining… there are two of you in the booth who take turns, and while one of you interprets, the other keeps running notes to help prompt you along the way – it requires immense focus and concentration and you have to trade off frequently or just whenever you feel you're losing focus and getting behind the speakers… it pays really well though, and if you've been educated as a translator/interpreter (as I have) and have some experience, you can make a LOT of money – sometimes you can earn a very good month's wage in just a week-long conference.
I get really impressed when I see jokes translated well between totally unrelated languages
Another example of a profession that will disappear very soon.
I’m gonna start uni for interpreting in a couple of months and I can’t wait, it’s literally been my dream job for forever
At 6:32 i felt that
What if the interpreter loses track of part of a sentence and can't recall? Can they beg the other party to repeat, or should they tell the listener that they've forgotten part the sentence?
damm imagine if they missed up
EVERY 1. KNOWS English. Why just speak. It
I found this way too interesting I need to get a life
7:36Press to see me as a female
i've just been watching the space videos and was wondering why the notes weren't floating
I have no idea why I'm watching this, or why it's interesting, but it probably has something to do with being a 40 yr single dad, and still being awake at 1:00 in the morning.
What about translating when it comes to sign languages. That would be really fascinating to see!
why is no one acknowledging the fact that his middle name is “slaughter” I can’t breathe
Isn't having 2 interpreters redundant, if not counter productive? Unless it's a very localized diction maybe?
This is my dream job.
on porpois mar al sopa do i have to do your job for you DAMNIT JIM IM A TRANSLATOR NOT AN INTERPRETER!
What's-his-name said that the whacha-ma-call-it is next to the doohickey.
sounds like a tough job for sure
i speak two languages learning 3 others, and translating the most difficult thing for me because some words i just have NO IDEA how to translate
Just watched the body language video… i just can’t stop watching
The world is getting smaller. This was great. Maybe one day if my Chinese improves I can do this job.
Why is this so interesting?
Thanks for sharing. Had always wondered about these points. I could see the value of recording meetings that discuss technically complex or sensitive issues, especially if using chuchotage.
I imagine that chuchotage is very difficult and most prone to errors.
i feel like this is a real true test of intelligence
In a situation like this why can't one interpreter be used?
I'm certified court interpreter for sometimes. It's not easy I can tell you that.
