Matt McCarten made Labour’s new chief of staff


Matt McCarten has been appointed
to lead David Cunliffe’s staff as he returns to his Labour roots. Irena Smith reports. He’s no stranger to politics. Matt McCarten has been appointed Labour leader David Cunliffe’s
chief of staff. He was Labour’s president
in his time, also doing a stint
as president of Alliance. Labour is currently behind
in the political polls, and David Cunliffe
reportedly does not have the full backing of his caucus, so Matt McCarten
is in for a big job. But the govt says otherwise. McCarten says he has the support
of the Unite Union and with his health in good nick, he is ready to work. And he’s wasting no time. He’s hit the floor running
to kick-start the Labour Party. Irena Smith, Te Karere. During the 2010 general elections, Matt McCarten stood for Mana
