Minnesota State Employer Partnership with Mayo

Minnesota State Employer Partnership with Mayo

[Upbeat music] [Jane] Mayo Clinic in the Midwest
employs healthcare providers
across the spectrum of care. We know that there is a shortage
of nursing professionals
from practical nursing right up through the doctor of nursing
practice and PhD level across the Midwest region. Minnesota State is a really valuable
partner for us at Mayo Clinic and in our Mayo Clinic health system. We have
17 affiliated nursing programs. Many of them are in the
Minnesota State system, and so those partnerships help provide
us with the exact type of nurse we need in a variety of settings across
communities in southern Minnesota. Employer partnerships with
Colleges and Universities matter. We can’t have the workforce
we need without graduates
from the programs and they can’t have graduates without the real
life experiences that we’re able to provide with our patients
in the healthcare system. [Vilayluck]I think it’s very important that
Minnesota state and Mayo Clinic have a partnership. When you’re done with your program and
you’re looking for your different jobs that you want to apply to, recruiters and Mayo Clinic will look
to see that you’ve been exposed to the different expertise that we have here
at the different facilities that you’re doing clinicals at. [Jane] I encourage other businesses to consider
a Minnesota State partnership for really practical reasons. We need our educators to provide that
very essential service in that getting students and graduates educated in a
way that we can take those graduates and transform them into really
effective employees. We have to be able to rely
on educators to educate, and we have to be able to
have communication with
them so that we’re able to have those conversations
about what curriculums are
needed and things that need to change for our future.
