myCADtools: CurveEquation – SOLIDWORKS Productivity Tools


To download this tool, click on the link given in
the description. In a part or assembly, CurveEquation enables you to
very quickly and easily create 2D or 3D curves
directly from parametric equations. I first enter the parametric equations of my spiral
as a function of parameter T … … and I choose the “Polar” option to specify that
I am working on an RϴZ polar reference. To define the limits of the curve, I enter the start
and end values for parameter T. “Step” enables me to manage the number of points
and therefore the precision of the curve. I choose to create a 3D sketch. It is possible to save the equation with all of its
parameters as a favourite. In my list of favourites, I choose “Elastic ring”. I just change the calculation step. I choose to create all the points calculated in a
3D sketch… … and export all the points in an Excel file.
