Legislature is talking about workforce diversity in construction. Building trade unions provide
a path to the middle class, but men and women of color
can’t always get those jobs. Now, prevailing wage legislation could make that problem worse. Lawmakers should demand
data on workforce diversity from all the building trades, and they should oppose
a prevailing wage bill that excludes workers of color. Let’s craft a new bill to give
everyone a chance to work, not just a select few.
