We took on our first apprentice in 2015.
The business have been so pleased with the scheme that we now have four
apprentices. As a non levy payer it’s been really straightforward. A lot of the
work is done by our training provider. We get access to government funding,
it makes the cost of the training itself very low, they just get us to fill in
some forms and away we go. Ella has just been brilliant for this
company. She just brings a youthful exuberance with her that we were just
missing before. She picked up the job quicker than I think any of us would
have realised. Soon after she finished her main apprenticeship scheme she had
three different offers of people that wanted her in their departments. There are so many benefits of having apprentices within your business. They are loyal, they
are committed they’re keen. I did ask the areas within the business: How soon are your
apprentices adding value? and they all said from day one.
