Scientific Weight Loss Tips

Scientific Weight Loss Tips

We all want to lose fat and stay healthy. But with all these diet pills and plans, what does science have to say about weight loss tips? Let’s get the obvious out of the way first. -Exercise- Not only does the physical active exercise burn calories immediately scientist recently found that it continues to burn fat while you sleep. During exercise your body uses up most of its available carbohydrates for energy and replaces them over the next 24 hours. In the mean time, it begins to break down your fat storage for basic functions such as walking, talking and even sleeping. Don’t skip meals. Especially breakfast. We’ve explained in our last video the science behind appetite. When you starve yourself, your body and brain create intense urges to eat high-calorie foods as opposed to healthy options. Breakfast specifically helps to keep blood sugar and hormone levels regular and gives your metabolism a boost to burn more calories through the day. Adding more protein and low fat dairy to your diet helps as well. Protein induces a large release of the chemical PYY, which goes to the brain and suppresses hunger signals. Simply adding 10% more protein to your food can keep you full much longer. Low fat dairy on the other hand contains calcium which binds to other fats you’ve eaten and creates a soup like substance which can’t be absorbed. Instead, your body excretes this soup and with it more of the fat you’ve consumed. Speaking of soup, it’s perhaps one of the best kept diet secrets. When you drink a glass of water with your meal, the fluid is easily absorbed before your food is digestid which quickly brings down the stomach size making you feel hungry. Take that same meal and puree it in a blender and the fluids have a much harder time being absorbed quickly this means your stomach stays expanded, making you feel full for longer. Count your calories. Studies show that people who actively document their food intake by using a journal have drastic improvements over those who don’t. Furthermore, knowing a coffee has 10 calories but a cappuccino has 100, gives you the opportunity to structure your diet to eat more while taking less calories. And while it may seem trivial, reducing your plate size can drastically change your food intake. Studies show that a simple change from 12 to 10 inches can reduce the amount of food you eat by up to 22%. Our bodies have a hard time turning down food in front of us even when we’re full. So the less food on your plate the better. Finally, sleep and stress play a large factor in how much we eat. Both sleep deprivation and stress levels increase appetite, making it harder to keep off the pounds. Got a burning question you want answered? Ask it in the comments or on Facebook and Twitter. • Do NOT count your calories. It led me to develop an eating disorder because you start to get super obsessive and eat lesser and lesser to lose weight faster.
That is NOT the right way to lose weight.
And if you still intend to count, then make sure you meet the recommended daily intake everyday.
    Please be careful, y'all.

It might become obsessive. I made the mistake of counting calories and ended up being obsessed by it. This caused even unhealthier habits so therefore don't do it. I can promise you that having problems with this is very hard so don't even get started. Instead try "tracking" calories with a point system (search the internet). It's a lot more safe and will help you get into healthy habits way more effectively. But for the sake of your own (mental) health, do not actually trach your calories

  • Can u make a video on iron deficiency (anemia) and how to prevent it…..because many people are anemic nowadays without knowing it … specially womens suffer from anemia …..

  • You might have studied biology, that doesn't mean all of these tips are correct.
Not eating breakfast can actually help you with weight loss (see intermittent fasting), and calorie counting isn't viable for the long term, because the composition of the foods you eat is the most important part, not their caloric value.
You should've consulted with an actual expert, like Dr. Fung, he's on YouTube as well.

  • It's fine if you promote breakfast, but don't put an image of the typical breakfast with tons of added sugar. A fruit is a million times better

  • From personal experience, intuitive eating and mainly eating raw, non-processed food like vegetables, fruit, lean meat and seafoods, treating self to yummy food in moderation and moderate exercise is probably the best way to keep a healthy weight. Being thin does not equal healthy, each individual has a different healthy weight and accepting it is the most important. Screw diet-culture, so many eating disorders are caused because of it.

Is there any area of science with less consensus than the topic of nutrition/weight loss.

When I have dieted I just used old the fashioned "count calories" approach. Calories burned – calories consumed. Try to create a calorie deficit most days. When accumulated deficits add up to about 3000-3500 calories, you drop 1 pound. This approach has never failed me no matter what I ate. Down side, you have to accept that you will feel hungry often.

I don’t understand why people want to lose weight and look like sticks it’s better if you just turn fat into muscle

  • it's her again says:

I have a question if I fast then my metabolism will slow down bc ever since I started fasting I'm feeling less hungry so I don't want to eat when I'm full (in the morning) but I want to lose weight and speed my metabolism up at the same time

  • charlie magne manzanillo says:

I just have a low calories intake so don’t Need to burn other calories, so no Need to exercise, instead.. coz i’m actively exercising but I’m still gaining weight while I’m consuming 1200kcal/ day…??

  • DO NOT COUNT YOUR CALORIES OR GO ON A DIET!!!! counting calories will make u obsess over everything u eat! going on a diet will not end up well. it will end up in u gaining back the weight plus more or getting an eating disorder. ur body naturally gains weight as it grows, let it do what it has to do!

  • yourlittle princess says:

Everyone is trying to lose weight and here I'm 18 years old and I'm 5'1 tall and I weight about 37kgs or 38kgs. I can eat but I don't wanna eat I don't know why!! My parents daily scold me for not eating enough. They get angry and don't talk to me the whole day. Please someone help me please!!

  • Please sponsor a calorie counting app that doesnt need to be paid, please Give suggestions on the app in really need it

  • what i've learned over the years and what's made me the happiest:
eat lots of proteins, your body takes longer to digest meats, chicken and fish are your best friends
NO RICE, NO BREAD, NO STARCH, NO POTATOES = these make you hungrier and are considered carbs, they are good for energy but to lose fat you need to cut as many carbs as you can
VEGGIES = cauliflower, broccoli, zuccini. you can boil them and put butter, butter is a fat and gives it a better taste. I prefer vegetables over salads cause I don't like eating spinach.
FRUITS, DARK CHOCOLATE, TEA = these are your deserts. Fruits are limited to strawberries and blueberries. anything else such as pineapple or mangoes have WAY too much sugar, and these other ones take less preparation. If you're going to eat dark chocolate, it must be more than 70% and limit the amount you eat. Dark chocolate has fewer carbs but helps suppress the want of sugar, especially when you start cutting off rice and potatoes. Tea, especially noncaffeinated, help end a meal and suppress and hunger you may still have. They're relaxing and can be sweet, without having to eat any more carbs.
NOTE: Mostly everything has carbs except water
Some athletes refuse to drink water while they work out to avoid bloating or cramps in the stomach, but if you're ate school, working, etc, you should be drinking 16 oz. of water.
YOU CAN DO THIS, BUT NO MATTER WHAT, RESULTS COME FROM EXCERSIZE. There is no truer, faster way to lose weight.
I'm not a scientist, this is just what works for me and my family. In this diet, I have lost a lot of fat on my legs and arms, but I did gain 2 pounds from 95 to 97, however, this is just muscle. In reality, when I get off this diet, you don't gain weight, I rather lose muscle, making my arms more soft and bigger. But this also might be my metabolism. ALSO:
